Moving Service in Stellenbosch Central
Stellenbosch Central is the most beautiful part of town to live in and the most awkward part of town to move out of. Dorp Street is the oldest street in the country still in use, and it was laid out for ox wagons rather than five ton trucks. Church Street fills with pedestrians by mid morning. Ryneveld and Andringa are one-way, tight, and lined with parked cars from first lecture to last. The oaks that make the place are also branches at exactly the wrong height.
Eikestad Vervoer is a Stellenbosch moving service, and the centre of town is where we work most. We have loaded flats above shops on Plein Street, carried furniture off stoeps on Dorp Street and worked around market traffic near Die Braak. None of it surprises us.
Call 083 410 9710 for a quote on the phone, or use the booking form. It takes under two minutes.

Moving in the old part of town takes a plan
Everywhere else in Stellenbosch, you pull the truck into a driveway and start. In the centre, the first twenty minutes of the job is deciding where the truck stands.
The three things that make Central moves different:
No off-street parking. Most of the housing between Bird Street and Ryneveld has no driveway at all. Your loading point is the kerb, which means we need to know in advance how long a stretch of kerb we need and at what time of day it is realistically available.
Foot and tourist traffic. Dorp Street, Church Street and the stretch past Oom Samie se Winkel are busy with visitors most of the day. Blocking a pavement for two hours is not an option. We stage the load properly so the walkway stays clear.
The event calendar. Woordfees in March, graduation weeks, race and cycling events and the Saturday market crowd all change how the centre moves. If your date falls in one of those windows, tell us when you book and we will shift the timing rather than fight it.
Why Stellenbosch Central residents call Eikestad Vervoer
Goods insured
Your belongings are covered by insurance against collision, fire and hijacking. You get that in writing with your quote, not as a verbal reassurance on the day.
Always on time
Our vehicles are satellite tracked, so we can give you an exact arrival time. In the town centre this matters more than anywhere else, because your loading window and your building access are often fixed to the hour.
Frequent communication
We text you at every stage. When the truck leaves, when it is close, when loading is done, when it is offloading. You are never standing in an empty flat guessing.
Trained, friendly movers
Our team has decades of experience between them. Narrow Victorian passages, spiral and half-turn staircases, heavy yellowwood furniture and doorframes you cannot afford to knock are ordinary work for us.
Fast moving time
Ask and we will help you unpack and place every item in its allocated room at the other end, so you can live properly from day one instead of camping between boxes.
Convenient phone quotes
Tell us what you have, which street you are on and what floor you are on. We quote on the call. For most Central addresses we do not need a site visit, because we know the buildings.
No hidden fees
All costs are included upfront. No stair charge that appears on the day, no parking or access surcharge invented after the fact.
The Stellenbosch Central moves we do most
Flats and student digs in the town centre
Moving out of a flat on Van Riebeeck Street, a converted upstairs unit on Plein Street, or a room in a house on Victoria Street. These are our most frequent Central jobs. Stairs, tight landings and kerbside loading are all priced in from the start.
One thing to be clear about: we do not do single-item moves. Small moves are very welcome, but there must be more than one item. If you need one bed collected on its own, we are the wrong call.

Heritage homes on Dorp Street and around
Full house moves from the older homes in the historic blocks. Protecting the building matters as much as protecting the furniture here. We blanket and wrap, we take doors off their hinges when that is the safer route, and we do not force anything through a gap it does not fit. See our House Moving page for how a full house move runs, and Packing and Unpacking if you would rather not box up a lifetime of things yourself.
Offices and shops near Die Braak and Eikestad Mall
Office relocations in the centre usually need to happen outside trading hours or over a weekend so you are open again on Monday. We plan those around your loading access and your building manager. Details on the Office Moving page.
Moving out of the centre
Plenty of Central moves end elsewhere. Die Boord, La Colline, Welgevonden, Paradyskloof, or out of town to Somerset West, Paarl, Durbanville and the Cape Town suburbs. We cover Stellenbosch and the surrounding region within roughly a 300km radius, so most Winelands and Cape Town metro moves are routine for us.
The access problems we plan for
- One-way streets. Ryneveld, Andringa and several of the connecting roads run one way. We plan the approach and the exit before the day, not while double parked.
- Low oak branches. Some sections of the historic streets have a canopy that a high-sided truck cannot clear. We match the vehicle to the street.
- Paid and time-limited bays. We work out the loading position with you in advance so nobody is moving the truck halfway through the job.
- Stairs and no lifts. Almost every upstairs unit in the centre is walk-up. Tell us the floor when you book.
- Narrow doorframes and passages in the older homes, which is exactly where experience earns its money.
- Building and body corporate rules. Give us the building name when you book and we will confirm what notice your manager or trustees need.
Routes into the centre and where we park
We come in from the Adam Tas side on the R310 or down the R44, then into the centre by whichever approach suits your street and the time of day. For a Dorp Street or Church Street address we usually load from the quieter cross street rather than the main run. For flats on Bird Street and Plein Street we work early rather than fighting the afternoon.
You do not need to arrange anything yourself. Give us the address, the floor and the time you have access, and we will work out the rest before we arrive.
Our Stellenbosch Central service area
We serve the whole central area and everything directly around it, including Dorp Street, Church Street, Plein Street, Bird Street, Ryneveld Street, Andringa Street, Van Riebeeck Street, Victoria Street, Drostdy Street and Herte Street, plus Mostertsdrift, Dennesig, La Colline, Universiteitsoord, Krigeville, Dalsig and Die Boord.
