Moving a Family Home in Uniepark

Uniepark is mostly freestanding family houses on large stands. Plenty of them sit on 1 000 square metres or more. That means long driveways, garden furniture, braai gear, pot plants and a garage that’s been collecting things for years.

So plan for the garage. It’s ALWAYS the last room people pack and the 1 that takes longest. Start on it a week before we arrive.

A lot of properties here also have a garden cottage or flatlet out the back. If that’s being emptied too, tell us when you quote. It’s basically a second small move on the same day, and we load it on the same trip.

Then there’s the stuff that doesn’t fit in boxes. Mountain bikes for the Jonkershoek trails. Outdoor tables and heavy pot plants. The kids’ trampoline. We wrap the bikes and stand them up in the truck so the gears and wheels don’t get knocked.

Furniture Removals From Uniepark

Selling the house and only taking part of it with you is common. We’ll move just the furniture you’re keeping. A lounge suite, beds, a dining set and a couple of wardrobes is a small move, and that’s fine.

We do have a minimum. We don’t move a single item on its own. 1 piano or 1 fridge by itself isn’t a job we take, because sending out a full truck and crew for 1 piece doesn’t make sense for anyone.

Flatlets and Student Rooms

Uniepark is close to the university, so plenty of garden flatlets here get rented to students. When the lease ends, someone has to move a bed, a desk, a fridge and a pile of boxes.

That counts as multiple items, so we’ll do it. Parents booking for a student can call us directly and sort out the quote from wherever they are.

We move offices too. Desks, chairs, filing cabinets and computers, packed and moved so your team can sit down and work the next morning.

Packing and Wrapping

Packing a 4-bedroom house is a big job. If you want us to do it, we bring boxes and bubble wrap, plus heavy-duty plastic bags, and work through the house room by room.

Fragile things get wrapped 1 at a time. Duvets and couch cushions go into the plastic bags, which keeps them clean and dry.

Doing your own packing is fine. Mark every box with the room it’s going to and whether it’s fragile. Our guys read the box and put it in the right spot.

Getting From Central Stellenbosch to Uniepark

Uniepark is just over 3 kilometres from the middle of town. It’s about 5 to 10 minutes in the truck.

From town we take Plein Street into Van Riebeeck Street, then follow it onto Jonkershoek Road. Uniepark sits along that road as you head out towards the mountains.

Avoid School Times

Laerskool Stellenbosch and Stellenbosch High are both close by. Between drop-off and pick-up, the roads around them get busy and parking disappears. Book a start time that misses the morning school run and you’ll get your truck right outside the gate.

Weekend Traffic on Jonkershoek Road

Jonkershoek Road is the way in to the nature reserve, so on sunny weekends you’ll share it with hikers and cyclists. It’s nothing like town traffic. But a weekday move is quieter, and the truck can take its time on the turns.

Parking in Your Driveway

Most Uniepark houses have room for the truck in the driveway or right outside. Move your own cars out the night before. Every metre closer to the front door is 1 less metre of carrying a fridge.
