Upper Dalsig (Bo Dalsig) climbs up the slope. Driveways are steeper, and some houses are split over 2 or more levels. Moving a piano down a sloped driveway is a job for experienced hands and a few extra minutes.

Lower down, around Welgelegen and streets like Coligny and Nooitgedacht, it’s flatter. But the houses are just as big. Many have flatlets or garden cottages, and a few are run as guesthouses with several furnished rooms.

So when you call for a quote, tell us about every building on the property. A main house plus 2 cottages is a very different day from just the main house.

Home Moves in Dalsig

A typical Dalsig move is a full family house. Several bedrooms, a lounge and a TV room, a study, a kitchen full of appliances and a patio full of outdoor furniture.

We load heavy pieces first and pack boxes tight around them. Nothing rolls around when the truck heads down the hill.

If you’re packing yourself, write the room and the floor on each box. In a split-level house, “bedroom 2, top floor” saves everyone a lot of stairs.

Getting From Central Stellenbosch to Dalsig

Dalsig is about 2.5 kilometres from the middle of town. Most of the time it’s 5 to 10 minutes in the truck.

We head south through town, past the Paul Roos and Rhenish school area, and up into Dalsig towards the mountain. Coetzenburg and the university sports grounds are just next door.

School Hours Change Everything

Rhenish Primary, Rhenish Girls’ High, Paul Roos and Eikestad Laerskool are all close to Dalsig. Traffic officers and crossing assistants are out in the mornings and afternoons, and the roads crawl.
